As reported by Ian Visits - progress on the Northern Line Extension

Quote
Nine Elms

They completed the primary construction works in late September. More than two-thirds of the pre-cast platform sections have been installed and casting of the lining wall and column encasement continues on schedule. The blockwork to create the internal walls for the rooms in the new station and construction of the eastern superstructure are now underway.

Battersea Power Station

Construction work has started on the internal walls to form the rooms in the new station. Construction of the eastern and western service lift shafts and emergency stairs was completed in September. Installation of the architectural ceiling in the station ticket hall continues, with 80 out of 92 sections complete.

For those readers who are confused, it might be called the "Northern Line" but it is south of the river - Nine Elms was the famous London and South Western Railway depot a century ago, and Battersea Power Station stands on the south bank of the Thames by Grosvernor Bridge on the line into Victoria.

Are they really going to call it "Battersea Power Station Station"

Just "Battersea Power Station". Or maybe "Battersea Power station" as TfL» (Transport for London - about) documents have both, but could be typos ...

Although originally it was just to be Battersea.

To be consistent, it should be "Battersea Power Station" station. Other stations don't have Station as part of their name, it's something you add on - perhaps as railway station or tube station. But the station name is so often used as a heading, where the added words acquire extra capitals (as in the forum's own list). And it's not something most people try hard to be logical about anyway.

Of course when it was a power station it would have been Battersea power station - but as it isn't one the extra words have to be part of the name.

Dunno why, but this makes me think of 'Box Signal Box' and 'Junction Road Junction'...

I wonder if TfL» (Transport for London - about) are putting an electrical sub station there as well, the substation could be called Battersea Power Station Station sub Station   Grin

Although in practice electrical sub stations are not given confusing names

Indeed. So a departing train will be at leaving eastbound from the western terminus of the southern extension of the northern line.
