Applying bignosemac's logic, I should go for Western Enterprise, as I sat in its cab at Laira in 1972. Photographic evidence exists but shall remain outside the public domain! Otherwise, maybe Western Prefect (because I was one at school  ) |

With 23 yrs RN experience behind me - it has to be Western Chief ...................
..........or, having just bought a house in Southampton and then getting a Devonport based ship - my second choice would be Western Weekender.

I rather like the idea of "WESTERN CYNIC" But am not actually thinking of changing my username. "broadgage" is sort of western related anyway, should have kept the old Brunel gauge  |

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Rather surprised that no-one has come up with Western Welsh especially now that the tolls are no more. I seem to remember their buses alternating with Red and White in East Wales some 50/60 years ago now.

Coming from Reading, as one does, I nearly chose Western Elms Avenue,  but it's the other side of town... That brings back memories. That road is a steep hill I climbed everyday to get to school! |

Well if you insist on going back to the Brunel era then you must have 4+4 Third Class (open wagons) and it was Second Class not standard class. |
