Brook Lea is right, I could not decide between the two. However there is an identical shot here.

It was the LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about) signs that confused me but there is one return service a day to London and hence the carriage location signs.

11.3 is indeed Lincoln ... train has just arrived from Newark (where it departed from a very much barer platform) and as I recall terminated at Lincoln. Some of the onward services in Lincolnshire are pretty sparse - down to a Melkshamesque level.

Lincoln Central as I still call it.

Yes, though it is (gulp!) over 30 years since St Marks closed.

Trains to and from Lincoln cannot access the main down platform at Newark Northgate, so one wouldn't see a 153 with the station buildings - which are in any case slightly different in GN style from the Lincoln ones. Newark is much more like High Barnet - which always confuses me when I'm on the upper reaches of the Northern Line.

13.3 reminds me of Bedwyn, and I wonder whether the ‘heritage’ photo for today might actually be the more recent than the ‘modern’ one?
