How long before that photo gets superimposed over one of Pilning Station...  Grin

Seriously - a wide range of configurations available and perhaps not the one pictured.   Further, the picture is taken from on the track (the sort of angle that Network Rail get very upset about if taken by people who are not working for Network Rail) so I don't have a photograph at the right angle to superimpose.

For Pilning ... I would suggest ramps on both sides - bit big, but plenty of space and no need for lifts while traffic builds up. They're shown "folded back" on the page referred above, but perhaps could be straight (unless that makes for a wheelchair runaway risk). Steps will not do as there is no alternative step-free route to the platform.

Whilst I would welcome a footbridge of any sort being reinstated at Pilning,I do have concerns about platform two failing to meet PTI regs since the masts have been installed.

PTI = Platform Train Interface, just in case anyone isn't aware

Good point but not terminal if there's a will (which, frankly, I doubt).

The mid platform overhead support does foul the platform edge - not sure if it's as bad as a few other stations though.   There is space for a shortened 3 carriage platform forward of there, with the overhead support in the middle of that section spanning the third track too.  So it would be longer than Dilton Marsh, longer than Avoncliff, and I suspect longer than the useable section at Saltash.

Configuation of footbridge as follows - as you walk up to the station headed for Wales, up the slope, over the line then down the slope between the platform and the loop which are well apart.  Psychologically attractive - no feelings on walking in circles as you do at Ashchurch or Jersey Sidings!
