I notice that Swindon is closed this weekend. Does anyone know what engineering works are taking place here this weekend.

Additionally, as the title suggests, is there anyway to see when the engineering works were booked into the timetable. I cant remember seeing this weekends changes advertised when i checked recently.

Thanks

Thanks Timmer, however it doesnt actually say what engineering works are taking place nor does it show the published date. I know we are currently on a 6 week notice period for the Informed Passenger process but I would like to know if these works even managed those timescales.

Sunday – All day, trains will not call at Didcot Parkway, Swindon or Chippenham. Replacement buses will serve these stations. Some services will be diverted and some will not run.

Generally, only anoraks care *what*'s being done - the vast majority just care whether there is any & what the alternatives are.

I can't definitively answer this, but I would be surprised if it had been advertised 6 weeks ago as the first 'advert' I saw for these works was last Monday (10th Dec) and I travel through Didcot Parkway each day.

Not sure YKN. All I do know is I booked tickets a few weeks back (Advance) and the times had since changed by a few minutes to allow a diverted Bristol train to travel in front of a WoE train that I’m travelling on because our train stops at Newbury and Pewsey.

There must be a public record of when engineering works are booked into the timetable.

Anorak or not it’s only partially accurate.  Some trains have called at Swindon- to go to Cheltenham.

Westbury - Swindon has been running to timetable, plus extra shuttles Swindon to Temple Meads - looks like the customer information was a bit sloppily provided.

Do you know when it was advertised II. It seems that PAX are not even getting the 6 weeks they were promised.

No I don’t know, sorry.  It affected me today though so not best pleased myself, though I only checked the schedules a few days before and it was advertised then so I was expecting it.

If you look at the train and bus movements for SWI» (Swindon - next trains) today using the "Open Rail Data" function at http://www.charlwoodhouse.co.uk/rail/liverail/full/SDON/16/12/18, you can see when they were created within "details". (I think some other open data sites also show this, though not Real Time Trains.)

All the buses I checked, and a lot of the trains, have a creation date of 27/10/18. Now the public announcement could have been earlier or later, but it gives you some idea of the planning timescale. Certainly the details of the trans and buses must have been known in time to be announced then. That just leaves the issue of whether they did.
