I have been working at home for three months now and have not been on a train since. Gosh my life feels less stressed.

I have been the same, got a bit tired of trains not using platform 1 being then moved to 2, also they seem to have problems putting a late running Cardiff into 4, they will move all the trains around so a late Cardiff can still use 2. Then everyone has to move about. Also moving to Kingsway has made it difficult to get to the station.

In my recent experience GWR (Great Western Railway) punctuality has improved on the Paddington to Bristol and South Wales route by the simple virtue of IETs (Intercity Express Train) running in HST (High Speed Train) times and waiting at stations to prevent early running.    On a recent trip from London we waited for time at both Reading and Didcot Parkway before getting into Swindon four minutes early.

If only!

It does make you wonder when all the investment & promises of improvement are going to actually bear fruit...….often seems to be going backwards rather than forwards  Roll Eyes

Yes - I've noticed that too.  Sitting on a TransWilts train in the bay at Swindon and waiting to leave ... an IET pulls in at platform 4.  An inward groan from me ... and 19 times out of 20 that's meant a hold while the important train goes out first.  But it turns out the IET is 5 minutes early and off we go in front ...

I've noticed an improvement in punctuality too.. though maybe I just chose the trains that are most reliably on time these days.. However it's been several months where I've had  10% off of my monthly season ticket due to lack of punctuality.

Indeed........some people seem to have been lucky, but it's clearly not been the experience of the majority, one only has to look at the performance figures to see that.

I live near Abbeymead and because of Metz Way being improved it would take me much longer to get home. I’m back in on the 2nd but not very excited for dealing with getting their and back, especially as it gets colder. However my friend at work has said that reliability is getting better, soon to see the truth.

I have noticed those Weymouth trains,( mostly the 16:40) has run to time more lately after they did the Filton bank. Metz way is that the roadworks on eastern avenue? I think it would improve Gloucester station if network rail were to provide extra signals and make the lines to Barnwood Junction 2 way, this would save trains from plat 4 crossing in the way of ones trying to leave plat 2, which causes delays and the staff get very cross. Two short sections of track would need relaying for passenger use, but should not cost as much as what they are doing in Westbury.
