Can anyone explain why the above service ran to Bruton and towards Frome before returning to Castle Cary before going forward to Frome and Bristol? I was following it on Tracksy after seeing it mentioned on Journey Check that it was being delayed at Frome.

Something to do with the blockade at Westbury, I would say.  It couldn't have passed through Westbury, as I understand it.  Should not have been timetabled to do so.

It was booked to go on the Westbury avoiding line from Frome.  However it was running 4 late from Yeovil. The reversal would have to have happened at Blatchbridge Jct presumably. I followed on Traksy from Bruton to Castle Cary and back.
I should have taken a screen shot!

Rostering error with no driver to take the train forward from Frome. Driver on train returned the train to Castle Cary (manned station) to free up the single line through Frome for main line services. Driver eventually sourced and sent to Frome in a taxi.
