09:22 Swindon to Westbury due 10:02 has been delayed at Swindon and is now 9 minutes late.
This is due to train crew being delayed.

No problem provided it makes the Weymouth connection at Westbury

Should do - the TransWilts service has gone ahead of the Weymouth at Bradford Junction.  Those in the know could make a same platform change at Trowbridge.

Phew!    After the 10:10 from Westbury, there isn't another Weymouth train until 14:25, and there have been some very unfortunate near misses (of the connection) in the past.

Some excellent work by the signallers at Westbury Panel.   The TransWilts allowed to go first even though it incurred a couple of minutes delay to the Weymouth service.

In the past I think the Weymouth used to go from Platform 1 at Westbury.  It is now booked from 2 with the TransWilts coming in on 3 - thus saving the chase down and up the stairs to make the connection.

17:41 Cheltenham Spa to Southampton Central due 20:44

17:41 Cheltenham Spa to Southampton Central due 20:44 will be cancelled.

This is due to a shortage of train crew.

Additional Information

Passengers can board the 18:26 Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Temple Meads CrossCountry service (GWR (Great Western Railway) tickets will be accpeted on this service) then change at Bristol Temple Meads for the 19:23 service to Southampton Central.
Passenges can also board the 17:33 Cheltenham Spa - Bristol Parkway and change there for the 18:33 service to Reading and change at Reading for the 19:52 CrossCountry service from Reading to Southampton Central (CrossCountry are accepting GWR tickets on this service).

No mention what passengers south of Swindon do....

Some very odd alternatives for the 21:22 Southampton to Westbury too

That sorts out the majority of issues ... 85 minute gaps and goodness knows what in through journey changes reduced to 40 minute delays southbound.  Northbound, the only significant delay (other than the odd unusual journey)  is for passengers to Warminster connecting from the London to Salisbury train - assuming there wasn't a rearrangement of the connections a couple of weeks back.

Hope people known it's re-instated.

06:07 Swindon to Southampton Central due 08:09 will be started from Westbury.
It will no longer call at Swindon, Chippenham, Melksham and Trowbridge.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

This is an important get-to-work train for an admittedly not massive number of people.  It is no longer the "joke" train it was prior to 2013.

Next train is not for nearly three hours (06:52 then 09:41 into Westbury)

Alternatives - some very common flows on this train these days in addition to Melksham issues:
06:16 from Swindon, change at Bath Spa, 07:35 into Westbury - 43 minutes late
07:28 to 08:10 Trowbridge to Salisbury (change Westbury) rather than 06:46 direct - over 30 minutes late
06:46 Trowbridge to Reading arrive 08:07 (change Westbury) now arrive 08:46, 39 minutes late
06:46 Trowbridge to Southampton Central arrive 08:09 now arrive 09:04, 55 minutes late

Doubly frustrating for anyone coming from Gloucester or Golden Valley line stations hoping to head south of Swindon - and a few do.

This week the Gloucester to Swindon leg is replaced by buses.   There is a "fast" one leaving Gloucester at 04:57 going direct to Swindon and another leaving even earlier at 04:17 calling at Stonehouse, Stroud and Kemble.  Both arrive at Swindon just before six - but with no onward connection today.

Are some of the knock-on delays being caused by the failed freight at Bathampton?

12:49 partially re-instated - starts from Westbury to go to Frome, so the 14:10 from Frome will run to Swindon as booked.

That's a relief - I'm on the return leg of that (15:34 ex Chippenham) into Melksham.   Had me worried for a few!

May have been yesterday ... no such excuse available today.

The one train GWR (Great Western Railway) choose to cancel (according to journey check) over their entire area.    Haven't "bothered" to post alternative arrangements ... and don't appear to be rushed off their feet.      See yesterday's post (3 or 4 messages up in this thread for just how much cancellation on the TransWilts mucks up commute-to-work flows.
