A train has 'clipped' a member of the public stood on Melksham platform, with the driver unfit to continue.  Replacement driver being taxied to move the train.

Thanks for following up with that.  I'm hoping that "clipped" may indicate a better outcome than we see too often in "person hit by train".  Hoping person involved and driver are / will be OK.

Explains following ...

Quote
14:38 Westbury to Bristol Parkway due 15:44
14:38 Westbury to Bristol Parkway due 15:44 will be starting late from Westbury.
This is due to a person being hit by a train earlier.

Hello, just thought I'd pop by... I regularly travel from Chippenham to Trowbridge for work and have found this forum useful over the past few months. I got the 16:27 home from Trowbridge tonight, the guard said someone was indeed hit by the train at Melksham but they were unhurt. I understand the driver of one of the following transwilts services had to remove the stricken train.

Thank you for that and welcome to the forum.

Seems the person involved declined hospital treatment but the driver was understandably shaken up.

Chaotic evening ...   lots of these.

17:33 London Paddington to Paignton due 21:21
17:33 London Paddington to Paignton due 21:21 was diverted between Reading and Westbury.
It will no longer call at Newbury and Pewsey but will call additionally at Swindon.
It has been previously delayed, has been further delayed at Castle Cary and is now 31 minutes late.
This is due to a points failure.

I was on "Train two thousand - 2O00 - 18:48 at Swindon due Melksham 19:15.  A queue of services showing on open train times when we got to Chippenham - one on the single line, another waiting at Thingley East, and we were in the platform.   The next Bristol service was sent "wrong line" from Royal Wootton Bassett ...

About 20 late into Melksham in the end - could have been worse - does show just how quickly the system gets congested in this area.

All caused by a set of points out of the area.  The goods loops at Woodborough on the Berks & Hants between Westbury and Pewsey.

For the record - 15 late off Chippenham and all the way to Frome from where it returned on time.   Following IET (Intercity Express Train) delayed (?) just before (?) Chippenham by 7 minutes, waiting for the platform.  Most of that made up by Bristol.

Very valid reason for the delay ... confirmed

This is due to more trains than usual needing repairs at the same time.

Hmmm ... I'm on my way home.  There's two more options gone.

Facilities on the 14:10 Frome to Swindon due 15:07.
Will be formed of 3 coaches instead of 2.

Thank you.  Grin Grin ...  2 round trips both up from 2 to 3 carriages, including the famous 17:36 from Swindon.   Great but doesn't really make up for the 2 round trips cancelled today.
