Starting a new "blame game" to help me see who we can shout at concerning cancellation levels:

Freight train failed across the junction near Theale blocking both lines on the Berks & Hants.

Thanks - perhaps I should fine-tune my "TOC (Train Operating Company)" attribution to our operator or another, but not sure how I would know from Journey Check??

Well you can blame a FOC (Freight Operating Company) for this one.  Freightliner.

Further Information

I guess they're running over half their route so don't count as a cancellation?    Sorry - for Melksham passengers they do!     After a good month in November, we start December with good ole "shortage of train crew"

17:36 Swindon to Westbury due 18:18 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

Oh lovely - busiest train of the day, and a gap of over an hour to the next one.   Very interesting that the fault has been identified three hours ahead and this is the only cancellation in the area - previous and following trips on the same diagram look to be running.   Perhaps the "fault" is that it's running out of fuel?

It is a fuel issue.

05:17 Gloucester to Southampton Central due 08:09
05:17 Gloucester to Southampton Central due 08:09 has been previously delayed, has been further delayed at Swindon and is now 15 minutes late.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

With a 10 minute wait scheduled at Westbury (this week) it left there just 1 minute late at 07:02, and the Paddington connection at 07:04 WAS made.

From Monday next, this becomes the 06:11 from Swindon, still 06:36 at Melksham but leaves Westbury at 06:54 and Warminster at 07:03 before sitting at Salisbury for 12 minutes (07:23 to 07:35).   Really going to please passengers going beyond Salisbury (NOT!!) - it doesn't allow a connection to an earlier London train, which would have been good reason.

This is due to train crew being delayed.

The "school train" from Swindon and one of the few remaining none-IET (Intercity Express Train) trains via Stroud.  I suspect that staff rota changes mean that Gloucester crews no longer come south of Swindon, and Westbury crews don't go north of Swindon.

Due off Salisbury at 07:35 ... next train 08:33 - ouch.    On none-strike days, passengers could fall back to the 07:50 from Salisbury.
