Seems to be various things going on, all creating a bit of a mess:

Quote
10:59 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 13:29 will no longer call at Slough.
It has been previously delayed, has been further delayed at Moreton-in-Marsh and is now 25 minutes late.
This is due to a fault on a train in front of this one.

11:20 London Paddington to Worcester Foregate Street due 13:44 will be terminated at Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to a broken down train earlier today.

12:00 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 14:27 is being delayed between Hanborough and Oxford.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

12:21 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill due 14:38 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore and Worcester Shrub Hill.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

13:55 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 16:30 will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to a broken down train earlier today.

And modified to add in details of the earlier broken down train:

Quote
1P25 0954 Great Malvern to Moreton-in-Marsh
Great Western Railway service
This service was cancelled between Moreton-in-Marsh and London Paddington due to a problem with the train (M8).

which was one of the five coach vice nine short-formations.

And JourneyCheck now updated with details of the fault with the signalling system:

Quote
Cancellations to services between Oxford and Moreton-In-Marsh

Due to a fault with the signalling system between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh all lines are blocked.

Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes. Disruption is expected until 15:00 26/02.

Last Updated:26/02/2019 13:52

14:23 lines now open. The 12:00 WOF:PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) has gone through Wolvercote Junction 54 minutes late. And a cancellation too now:

Quote
15:22 Worcester Shrub Hill to London Paddington due 17:28 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

And a predictable knock on effect from the earlier disruption:

Quote
15:50 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system earlier today.

This service failed to get beyond Oxford on 41 occasions last year. This year, it's just the second time so far.

Bizarre set of events at Paddington on this one.

Noticed it was booked as 10 car which seemed odd - boarded as normal with no special announcements about being in front set - then at departure time we were held as they decided they couldn’t take the whole train to Moreton...

Finally left (all 10 carriages) about 12 mins late - with train manager unsure what was happening after Oxford (although me being a regular on this train knew the late departure alone was enough for us to be cancelled at Oxford).

Part way through further delayed journey, announced that we indeed couldn’t go beyond Oxford

Now waiting for the likely packed 1622 stopper (which is also short formed today...)

And the previous 1W31, 15:22 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains)-GMV was long formed with a 9-car vice 5.  A very topsy-turvy day!  No excuses for allocating and then not promptly acting upon a 10-car along the Cotswolds as we all know they currently can’t operate on the route.

At Oxford they said it was cancelled due to signalling problems, maybe too embarrassing to admit or they didn't know the real reason.
Could they not have split it at Oxford and put half the train in the sidings? Although I guess an extra driver would have been an issue.

Realtime Trains has an explanation as to why the 15:50 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM was terminated at Oxford!

Quote
1W32 1550 London Paddington to Oxford
Great Western Railway service
This service was cancelled between Oxford and Moreton-in-Marsh due to the planned train being replaced with a slower train (MS).

I see the 447 Hereford to Paddington (which I presume is the 0623 Kingham - Paddington) is 5 carriages instead of 9.  No explanation given - but yet they still designate the front 2 coaches to 1st class - leaving 3 carriages for us mere mortals.  Hate to think how long it will take to get off the train at Paddington ...

Also, has anyone else noticed that on some of the new trains, none of the flushes are working on the toilers ... don't recall that happening on the older trains. (sorry if that isn't relevant for this chain - no pun intended)

Isn't the second carriage a composite - with just under 60 standard class seats in addition to just under 20 first class?   Sorry to be the pedant this morning!   Still likely to be very tight!!

and after the earlier issues with the 08:21 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):HFD» (Hereford - next trains)

Quote
12:09 Hereford to London Paddington due 15:27 will be started from Worcester Foregate Street.
It will no longer call at Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall, Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Slough.
It is being delayed at Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to a fault on this train.

and has just hit Evesham 47 minutes late.

Modified to add the consequential:

Me again!

For the second day running, and reminding me why I changed my working hours to avoid this particular "service":

Quote
15:50 London Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh due 17:26 was terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham and Moreton-in-Marsh.
This is due to a fault on a train in front of this one.

This is due to failure of the electricity supply.

A bit of disruption in the Hereford area this morning:

Quote
05:28 Hereford to London Paddington due 08:28 was started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall, Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Worcester Foregate Street.
It has been delayed at Worcester Shrub Hill and is now 18 minutes late.
This is due to the fire brigade dealing with an incident.

06:42 Hereford to London Paddington due 09:46 will be started from Worcester Shrub Hill.
It will no longer call at Hereford, Ledbury, Colwall, Great Malvern, Malvern Link and Worcester Foregate Street.
This is due to the fire brigade dealing with an incident.
