Seems a bit of a premature call to truncate this service:

Only 4 minutes late arriving at Foregate street...but...the reason for delay was a defective windscreen wiper so it was turned via Foxhall Junction on the way down.  That would have meant the broken wiper was at the front on the return journey of course, so it was terminted at Foregate so it could do a reversal move via Henwick and Tunnel Junction back into Shrub Hill to restart back to Paddington.  Now the revering siding at Henwick is in use, that becomes easier to do.

15:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 17:58 will be terminated at Oxford.
It will no longer call at Hanborough, Charlbury, Kingham, Moreton-in-Marsh, Honeybourne, Evesham, Pershore, Worcester Shrub Hill, Worcester Foregate Street, Malvern Link and Great Malvern.
This is due to a fault on this train.

18:29 Great Malvern to London Paddington due 21:05 will be cancelled.
This is due to a fault on this train.

The 15:22 was three minutes early at Hinksey North according to Realtime Trains and eventually arrived at Oxford 24 late. It also delayed the following services from platform 4 at Oxford. Understandably, the 15:50 Paddington to Moreton-in-Marsh was allowed beyond Oxford even though it was 17 late by then, causing further delays and amendments:

Quote
15:14 Hereford to London Paddington due 18:27 will no longer call at Slough.
It has been delayed between Kingham and Charlbury and is now 16 minutes late.
This is due to a broken down train earlier today.

16:22 London Paddington to Great Malvern due 19:24 will be terminated at Worcester Foregate Street.
It will no longer call at Malvern Link and Great Malvern.
This is due to a broken down train earlier today.

Not entirely sure why the 16:22 was truncated as a result but I'm sure those with a better knowledge of the workings of GWR (Great Western Railway) will be able to clarify this.

I caught the Cathedrals Express from Charlbury to Reading this morning. The carriage-side displays were showing:

DESTINATION London Pad
DEPARTURE TIME 08.35
NEXT STOP Hanborough
CALLING AT Newport & Hereford

Sounds like an exciting diversionary route. I was quite disappointed that we went the normal way.

Both the 17:22 and the 18:22 Paddington - Herefords are short-formed this evening.

Well, that's according to JourneyCheck anyway...

As was the 07:10 Moreton-in-Marsh to Paddington yesterday and today (though today wasn't mentioned on JourneyCheck).

Well, here I am in Hanborough station car park. There's supposed to be a rail replacement bus service to Oxford - but GWR (Great Western Railway) have forgotten to provide it.

Not sure if the following ‘advice’ is still showing?

08:25 Worcester Foregate Street to London Paddington due 10:57 will be cancelled. This is due to a fault on this train. Additional Information: Passengers intending to travel to Oxford, Reading and London Paddington from Worcester Fgt St on the cancelled 08:25 service: are advised to travel on the 09:03 Westbury service from Worcester Fgt St to Bristol Parkway, then on the 10:33 London Paddington service from Bristol Parkway, changing at Didcot Parkway for Oxford.

So, you’re recommended to get to Oxford by changing twice and get in at 11:43  rather than just wait for the next direct train and get in at 11:29, which is bad enough anyway!  The regular hourly service we’re promised in December can’t come soon enough!

Nothing on JourneyCheck but the appropriate http://iris2.rail.co.uk/tiger/ links show the following services as five coaches today:

15:50 PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains):MIM
16:22 PAD:GMV
17:22 PAD:HFD» (Hereford - next trains)
17:52 PAD:WOS» (Worcester Shrub Hill - next trains)
19:22 PAD:HFD

I'm not sure about the 17:52 but the others are all normally nine coaches.

On the other-hand the 15:22 PAD:GMV was nine coaches instead of its usual five.

(edit to add the 19:22)
