Just received an email from FOSBR (Friends of Suburban Bristol Railways) regarding the Severnside Community Rail Partnerships 2019 passenger count and a request for volunteers to help with it.
This has not been done for a few years due to, amongst other factors, a volunteer shortage. They are keen to get this restarted this year as alternative methods are not as accurate.
It hardly needs explaining how helpful these counts can be in providing useful info for the lines development.
The count date has not been set yet (sometime in March or May was mentioned). The contact name and email address  to register provisional interest with the SCRP is Keith Walton keith.severnside@btconnect.com.

I've already registered my interest but don't let that put you off! 😐

Do we know the dates? I'd love to help, but don't have as much free time as I did when I was working.

What we know is:

...either late March or May (in school term). To spread the workload one possibility is to do different trains on 3 consecutive days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

I just emailed Keith to register interest but mentioned that it was to some degree dependent on the date(s).

I'm away at the end of March (just in case) but will be back by May. Might drop a line.

Received an email today from Severnside CRP (Community Rail Partnership) regarding the passenger count on the Severn Beach Line. They have had to cancel it this year due to insufficient volunteer numbers to guarantee sufficient accuracy.
Off course, this might in part be because volunteer numbers have dwindled from previous years but significantly, the fairly recent introduction of the The Turbos has seen a lot more 3 car sets and so the required volunteer numbers have increased.
The email also cited local authority cutbacks for reducing the number of enumerators that they can contribute.

Quite sad as these provided useful information and were seen as more accurate the the ticket figures.

I know how they feel ... it was so easy on the TransWilts when we had a 153.  "Careful what you wish for", or "victim of their own success".
