The 05:05 from Penzance and 06:35 from Paddington also going via Honiton.

That line has had its problems too this morning after a South Western Railway service hit two obstacles on the line a couple of miles apart.

All in all quite a challenging morning for GWR (Great Western Railway) and it's passengers in the South West.

Quoting bobm (for conssistency) in each case ...

The 05:05 from Penzance and 06:35 from Paddington also going via Honiton.

That line has had its problems too this morning after a South Western Railway service hit two obstacles on the line a couple of miles apart.

Reports that the Token Hut at Eggesford Station has caught fire.

In addition a train is in difficulties at Newton St Cyres after hitting an obstruction on the track.

Reports that a train has been in collision with a car on Stoke Cannon level
crossing between Exeter St David’s and Tiverton Parkway.

It happened shortly after 6am.

Co-incidence, does this happen most mornings and we don't notice it, or are there some commections. 5 locations!

I'm at Tiverton Parkway awaiting Megabus fortunately. No trains at all. The PA (Public Address) says person hit by train, but the staff confirm it's a car.

With a 10 hour estimate for return to normal working, it's not just one of those sadly-too-frequent clear cases of a person being hit and their being immediate evidence as to why.  A person within a car would fit both descriptions given, and would also tally with the longer period of line closure, but we should wait and learn.

Not wishing to speculate but Stoke Cannon is a full barrier level crossing controlled by CCTV (Closed Circuit Tele Vision) from Exeter Panel. So if a car is involved then it must have been a very deliberate action or a very unfortunate set of circumstances just outside the barriers, and that would explain the long line closure.  The train involved was one of the GTi sets.
