For the record.  The three HSTs (High Speed Train) out today.

1A79 43198/43063

1A81 43162/43071

1C74 43185/43009

Of course there will still be some “imposters” out along the seawall after this week

Anyone got a spare wheel and jack?

It was...

However the 16:57 from Plymouth to Paddington HST (High Speed Train) developed a speedometer fault in the London end cab shortly after leaving Plymouth.  It returned to the station and was swapped with the 14:03 which was waiting to leave for the final leg of its journey to Penzance.

No doubt the speedo will be fixed at Long Rock tonight.

Hope a failed speedo, is not to revealing! though being more serious, could this be a reason for a out of service for ever for this set, with a 5 car IET (Intercity Express Train) replacement for the remaing week.

Reminds me of the time a few years ago when I was travelling between Carlisle and Leeds over the Settle-Carlisle. The speedo failed in the drivers cab of our Class 158 while we were mid-way. No chance of a rescue DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) or loco. Problem was 'solved' by having the guard ride in the back cab, calling out the speed over the cab to cab phone, with driver keeping below 40mph. We were finally caped at Skipton.

Whilst stationary in Plymouth yesterday on a Truro-bound IET (Intercity Express Train), an empty HST (High Speed Train) set passed us by on the middle track in the direction of Laira, it wasn’t the green set
