From station to station, back to Bristol city....

Decided to go to Stroud today so last night looked up times and fares online. Day return from Temple Meads with Senior Railcard, £8.40 for the 10.35 direct to Swindon and change there for Stroud. I think it's Swindon direct at the moment due to works at Bath. I get to the TM(resolve) ticket office today and the cost is double. When I questioned that, I was told that it was only for trains through Gloucester. I pointed out that online the prices included the Swindon option but the chap was adamant.
Oh well, day out I  Cardiff instead then.

Bristol ticket office is correct.

Price query on BR (British Rail(ways)) Fares shows £8.40 CDR (Off Peak Day Return [ticket type] (formerly 'Cheap Day')) via Gloucester and £15.65 any permitted

Planning the journey on (Bristol Temple Meads - next trains)/STD/today/1200/dep/today/1400/dep#outwardJump" target="_blank">NRE(resolve) shows the 2 fares correctly against the 2 routes.

Thanks for that. I will have another look but both Trainline and one other site were offering tickets at £8.40 through Swindon yesterday for travel today.
Not to worry, had a corker of a day in Cardiff instead.

Edit: I had another look and I have to concur with plymothian, I couldn't find an online ticket at that price. Can only guess it was my misreading in the first place. Annoyingly, I can't even blame it on a little too much early weekend refreshment!
