I only caught a few snippets of it, but I got the impression it was all about transport connectivity and Lime Street came bottom in a recent survey about such.

As far as I could hear, this study wasn't attributed. I think it must be this one, from the Independent.

While Leicester has three nonstop trains an hour to London, to major cities outside the capital it has regular direct links only to Birmingham, Nottingham and Sheffield. There are three daily trains to Leeds, but they are of little use to travellers as the first does not leave until shortly before 8pm.

I saw it, at least in part. It was about how services to Liverpool and elsewhere from London will improve when the West Coast mainline gets its new vinyls. Two tph instead of one for Liverpool. The reporter signed off in unusual fashion: "Got to go - that's my train. There isn't another for an hour!"
