Aww. I wanted to guess that really difficult one!

I'll go for 3 instead. Holyhead.

Yes definitely. I was there last Sunday, and the station building currently has a swallow's nest on a ledge inside it, facing the main (only) entrance. The swallows fly in through the entrance every minute to feed their chicks (about three from what we could see), then head off and return a minute later. The nest is directly in front of you as you walk in, and quite obvious both visibly and from the noise of the chicks.

We were told that changes in the management of the marshes by the rails have meant more flies around this year, so the swallows have nested there for the first time for many years.

I think 4 might be Kinghorn in Fife, approaching the town from Burntisland, looking over the harbour at Petticur and over the Firth of Forth to the island of Inchkeith and in the distance the coast of Berwickshire. But I might easily be wrong.

Berwickshire? With all that East Lothian (and a bit of Midlothian) in the way?

As 24 hours have now passed, I would like to suggest that number 10 is Golspie on the Far North line ??

grahame's photo bears a remarkable similarity to one I took on my own travels last year of a station 'somewhere between Lairg and Helmsdale', hence my 'guess'.
