Congratulations to Chris.  That's some achievement.

Barring an electoral earthquake (which can't be written off in the current climate), he will be the next MP (Member of Parliament).  Has a senior railway manager been elected as an MP before?

Well, an "also ran" was the rail journalist Christian Woolmar who stood for Labour in a no hope seat. Does that count?

Went to a talk of his organised by the Vale of Berkeley Railway a few years back. Very nice chap.

I was thinking about people who actually got elected (with no disrespect to Christian Wolmar).
