LNER» (London North Eastern Railway - about) are running charity specials between 18th-21st December to commemorate the retirement of HSTs (High Speed Train) on the East Coast network.

They are repainting a full set in original BR (British Rail(ways)) Inter-City livery, power cars in blue and yellow, and Mk3 carriages in blue and grey. The diesel traction world speed record holding power car, 43302, will be in the consist.

No details on tickets yet as far as I can find.

Here's a thought for LNER....rather than spending fortune repainting an entire train for the sake of a couple of trips, why not donate the cost to charity too? 🙄

Appears money is going to charity?

Here is the current plan, however, is subject to change:

18 Dec: Edinburgh to Aberdeen
19 Dec: Aberdeen to Newcastle via Inverness
20 Dec: Newcastle to Leeds via York
21 Dec: Leeds to KGX
The charities that will be benefitting from this railtour are the Samaritans and The CALM Zone.
