Merry Christmas everyone!

I haven't been travelling to London much but that is about to change.... A couple of years back there were all sorts of splits and things but noticing the new timetable it looks like I will take a 06:47 out on a Monday and an 1830 back on a Wednesday.

This looks to be £114.30

Are there any cheaper combinations aside travelling past 0930? Will a Didcot or chorsley type split still work or be anyway useful for the above?

Thanks in advance!

It'd be kinda helpful to know the origin, and destination in London.

Will this trip be every week for the foreseeable? Are any railcards held or eligible for? Is it just you making the journeys.

Haha... that’s was daft!!

Outward Kemble to Paddington, then back.

No railcards unless there was one worth me buying!!

Just me travelling, work commute as described above

Thanks for the reply, especially today!

Any thoughts folks?

Co-incidentally, I've been updating the Melksham Rail User Group website's fare pages today to cover the new  train time and the 2.7% higher amended fares.  For a day return to London though at similar times to yours, a split at Didcot gives a considerable saving and I would suggest looking at that, bearing in mind that you'll need something more that a day return Didcot - London.

Anyway - my tangent is at http://www.mrug.org.uk/londonfares.html

A peak return at the days and times you give comes to £157.40 with annual price rise - so forget that.
Two singles KEM-PAD» (Paddington (London) - next trains) out on Monday peak £78.70 and back Wednesday off peak £40.80 = £119.50
You are not likely to beat the off peak PAD-KEM but looking at the outbound on Monday:
Split Didcot and the two tickets come to £71.20,
Split Reading and the two tickets come to £75.30,
Split Cholsey and the two tickets come to £62.50 but you will have to travel on the stopper DID» (Didcot Parkway - next trains)-PAD which is a slower semi-fast calling at Cholsey. You could claw back a few minutes changing again at Reading but this is likely to cost you 30 minutes into London

Whenever I travel from Weston to Paddington, the only split that saves me is using Didcot - as confirmed above
