Looking back at 2019, it has been a busy year indeed. And one of my tasks this week is to make some sense in a review of the year gone, and plans for the year to come - which will be a year with some exciting opportunities, but with some significant (public transport) concerns too. Some are known, others may be guessed, and then there are those planned but not yet announced.

In reviewing / planning over the last 48 hours, I filtered out a base of images which remind me - and will remind others - of the year.  My ability to bore is well known, so I have uploaded 'em all and put a selection into a randomised quiz - at http://gwr.passenger.chat/destinations/ - so you can take in as few as 15 and as many as you like.

I'll be very interested to hear how you get on, and even more interested to hear of any issues with the application or data.  It's unashamed Melksham based and also public transport based.  Pictures include lots of meetings, groups and events - but very few of destinations in spite of the quiz name.  After all the enjoyment is as much in the journey as the destination and for many of the places I've been, I've spent far longer in the travelling than at that destination!

I'm too ashamed to show my score. Suffice to say, had it been school work, there would have been a lot of red ink with "see me" written at the bottom of the page.

Indeed - and the very reverse go the problem I had with some of the images such as http://gwr.passenger.chat/2019year/sqz_2019_467.png  ... where it was hard to find any incorrect but plausible suggestions!

I look forward to their being so many stations in Bristol that they give you as much trouble as the Glasgow ones.

Edit to correct typo

162 calls for sets of 15 pictures.  75 sets of markable results (more than 10 questions answered) submitted ... average score 9.8.  2 submissions perfect (15 out of 15!), and 2 only got 5 out of 15 right.  Complete counts at each score (from 0 correct) -  [0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 2, 4, 12, 8, 5, 10, 13, 13, 4, 2, 2]

For members just back from a Christmas break - WELCOME BACK.   This is NOT a "see what you missed" post - the quiz of my year is still open at http://www.passenger.chat/destinations .  Please take part (and those who have already, please try again) as I would love to be able to quote percentages in my next "how you did" report with there actually being over 100 answers submitted to talk about.

As ever, some very impressive answer sets, and everyone - yes EVERYONE - showed good knowledge in some areas, as a typical score if you just guessed would have been just 4.

to whet your appetite - 3 of the pictures you MAY be offered. Easier in the quiz than here as you're given multiple choice from 4, one of which is often silly.  Quiz is at {{link here}}

No, it's Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

Funny, isn't it.  Where we see heritage transport with an incorrect but previous route being reported, we smile and say "how nice", but when current transport turns up with incorrect previous routing advertised, we get a bit annoyed and frustrated.

Quiz still open at http://gwr.passenger.chat/destinations/ ... 15 pictures I have taken this year.   How many can you place?  17% of respondents have got 11 right ... 2 have got a perfect score (and, no, neither of the perfect scores was Lisa who sat with me as I made up the false answers!)
