Guess which line is allocated the train that's not working!

Further Information

If you hold a valid single, return, or weekly ticket, you will be able to claim compensation for delays of 15 minutes or more. Please keep your ticket and visit GWR (Great Western Railway).com/DelayRepay

Yes, thank you.   But how do I travel??

P.S.

Quote
06:11 Swindon to Southampton Central due 08:08
06:11 Swindon to Southampton Central due 08:08 will be terminated at Westbury.
It will no longer call at Dilton Marsh, Warminster, Salisbury, Romsey and Southampton Central.
This is due to an earlier landslip.

And why the **** could that not have been used for the 07:36 Westbury to Swindon and 08:44 return, into Westbury at 09:25 and picking up the 09:40 to Great Malvern which is where the diagram of the 06:11 is resuming this morning:

Quote
08:23 Southampton Central to Great Malvern due 12:28 will be started from Westbury.
It will no longer call at Southampton Central, Romsey, Salisbury, Warminster and Dilton Marsh.
This is due to an earlier landslip.

Interesting you bring this up. Before Delay Repay, the 'Further Information' part of JourneyCheck was often populated with at times useful advice with what to do, not anymore, just the same standard line about Delay Repay.

The 17:50 Gloucester to Westbury (instead of Southampton Central because of the landslip) service was cancelled throughout owing to disruption from the incident at Keynsham earlier.

Sadly, a lack of information at Melksham (I sound like a well worn record!).   On the Melksham Rail User Group Facebook page, I read

And cancel the 19.06 last night back to trowbridge so had to wait for the 21.09 train .as the bus x34 didnt come at 17.56 .from where I was waiting at melksham opposite the McDonald.

Little wonder that people drive, is it?

I suggest that every time there is a cancellation and no travel information on Journey Check,  GWR (Great Western Railway) should be tweeted to ask for such information

The 08:44 Swindon to Westbury had to return to Swindon (so that's the 09:09 at Melksham cancelled)

Cancellations to services between Swindon and Chippenham
Due to a tree blocking the railway between Swindon and Chippenham the line towards Chippenham is blocked.
Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted. Disruption is expected until 12:00 20/02.

Delay above has turned into a cancellation:

We have a serious robustness / reputational issue. From last night - public post on Facebook:

Quote
Why was it cancelled? That happened to me they were sending a bus to west bury but bus was late , I missed my train from westbury got to Cornwall 9 hrs later. Second time was waiting train never arrived missed my train at westbury I give up going from melksham. Found out later there was no train drivers.

and 3 days out of 4 so far this week, at least one cancellation.

Looks like that extra got cancelled too ... train waited an hour in Swindon to resume its normal diagram. Probably the wisest / pragramtic thing to have done as otherwise it would have been out of step all day unless they turned it short on the next run at Chippenham.

Edit to add complete record for Thursday in place of partial record posted during the day

The 08:59 from Chippenham to Trowbridge has been cancelled two days in a row, yesterday because of a broken down train and today due to a tree. I'm hoping to get into the office tomorrow, fingers crossed!

I guess one of the benefits of electrification is that it takes longer to clear fallen trees away, even for diesel trains.   Don't recall that benefit being one of the quoted sales features  Cheesy

Err ... OK.    Noting that 12:16 Westbury to Swindon (due 12:59) is cancelled, I wonder what will happen to the 13:14 Swindon to Westbury.

Love to have that as a permanent advertised additional train if the existing trains remained in the timetable and ran!

Why not simply hold it back half an hour in Swindon?
