Much disruption today caused by a fatality between Moreton-in-Marsh and Evesham

The Evesham Journal reports that the sad incident occurred at 1040 this morning at Clayfield Barn Level Crossing.  This is a matter of a few hundred yards (in a straight line) from my home.  I was working at home but heard nothing of it.

The Journal also reports that services were restored at around 1330

Such unhappy news.  My thoughts go to all involved, friends and family of the deceased, the driver and other traincrew, and the Emergency and other services involved.  It's a bit chilling to think that my own daughter, a Paramedic/ECP was working on the ambos this morning and could have been called to this.  They never know what their next job is going to be.

For the second day running, the 05:11 Worcester Shrub Hill to Paddington service was delayed at Oxford due to problems trying (and failing) to join two 5-car units. Today, it was terminated at Reading "due to a problem with the train (MY)."

It will no longer call at Pershore, Evesham, Honeybourne, Moreton-In-Marsh, Kingham, Charlbury, Hanborough, Oxford and Slough.
It has been delayed at Worcester Shrub Hill and is now 70 minutes late.
This is due to a fault with the signalling system.

But despite that, it manages a time at Moreton-in-Marsh on RTT» (Real Time Trains - website).

No doubt a signaller reporting error.  All points on the Cotswold Line still rely on manual reports, so there is the occasional headcode or time mix-up when an entry is made.  This would have been the arrival time for the following 1P22, so entered into TRUST (Train Running System TOPS)/TOPS (Total Operations Processing System) as 1P20 by mistake.

Makes sense. Mind you, after my comments about Worcestershire Parkway opening as a stealth station, having stealth trains is a logical next step.

And once again, delayed at Oxford due to problems trying to attach the two units, although the delay this time was just seven minutes.

Third time in five working days. Just bad luck or something more...?
