Hi All,

Our employer had a large discount arrangement for season tickets, which was set up under Arriva Trains Wales. It was 34%.

This was to encourage people onto the trains, this has now been changed to 5% at the end of the month.

Glad I had my over 60 Bus ticket.

A lot of TfW set fares were reduced in Jan by around 10%, so the effect isn't quite as great as it might seem.  I suspect the withdrawal has been used to offset some of the general reduction.

I'd rather everyone have access to a slightly lower fare than some people get considerably lower fares than others just because they happen to work for a larger employer.

A lot of TfW fares are pretty reasonable.  £7.60 anytime day return from Merthyr to Cardiff (24 miles).  Looking at a similar distance into Temple Meads from say Weston (20 miles) is £11.70 in comparison.
