Bridge replacement work in the Patchway area.

Trains between London Paddington and South Wales diverted – extending normal journey times – and these won't call at Bristol Parkway.

Trains run between London Paddington and Bristol Parkway with connecting coaches towards Newport.

Trains between Portsmouth Harbour and Cardiff Central start/terminate at Bristol Parkway.

Trains between Taunton and Cardiff Central start/terminate at Bristol Temple Meads instead.

also 25th and 26th April, and 2nd and 3rd May - also affecting trains to Gloucester (and CrossCountry?)

Will also cause local disruption to road traffic and pedestrians around Patchway

The closure of Gipsy Patch Lane is not just to motor vehicles - it's to cyclists and pedestrians too - at least for some of the  time.

During the closure of Gipsy Patch Lane, Network Rail will operate a shuttle bus for pedestrians needing access either side of the bridge. The shuttle bus will start operation on Thursday 5 March 2020 and will run weekdays, weekends and will also be available overnight. This service will be free of charge and will operate for the duration of time the railway bridge is closed to pedestrians

Station Road (on which Patchway Station is) will be closed to vehicles at the GP Lane end, but pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to access the road from GP Lane.

The new bridge is scheduled to be put in place between 11 -19 April 2020 when the railway line will also be closed.

"The closure of GPL (Ground Position Light) is going to cause dreadful problems here as it is used as one of the a main route from the A38 to get to and from many local areas and beyond and including Bristol Parkway Station" writs Sylvia Popham, who will be well known to members who go on Wessex Wanderer Railway Walks
