Trams could be seen on the streets of Worcester under plans being investigated by a council (link below.)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hereford/worcs/7323609.stm

Worcestershire County Council is looking at the idea which could see trams using existing rail lines.

Trams might be operating in the city in 2015 if proposals are given the go-ahead.

Good - it will see infrastructure improvements/ new stations.

Bad - it will add to the already bad congestion, and probably slow down FGW (First Great Western)/LM (London Midland - recent franchise) services!

I can see FGW and LM express having to call at local stations as a cost cutting measure!

Even if they don't, they will get stuck behind the trams.

Besides- trams run on roads- what they are proposing is a Metro/Rapid Transit System.

Its possible that they have one eye on the recent DfT» (Department for Transport - about) approval for a tram-train trial on the Penistone line (link below.)
