I see so many sad "disused station" pictures on my data feed ... but things are not always totally what they seem. Here's an example where these days (well - until late last week) the number of trains is perhaps its best ever - it's just that the modern diesel train doesn't need all the facilities such as run around loops, water towers, coaling stages, etc that were needed by a much less frequent service in the past, with the remaining station just up beyond the cars.

I hope to be there again within the year.

That car park is also one of the main ones for St Ives.  Not necessarily a rail car park.

If travelling to St Ives for the day, most would use either Penzance or St Erth intermodal thingy.
There again, the busses are every 30 minutes from Penzance and the St Ives bus 'station' is closer to the town than the rail station is.

Did the rail line go as far as the car park in days gone by,or is the present terminus where it always was.

The original station occupied most of the current car park. Have a look at this...
