https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/train/netherlands/amsterdam?

Oh dear ... Eurostar doing a big advert thing on Facebook - "Go to Amsterdam from £35". I popped in and found that fare easily enough, but then couldn't find any returns at less than £91.50.

Reading the comments on the Facebook Ad looks like I wasn't the only one - in fact the £91.50 to get back again was lower than many had found.

And of course it's a direct outbound train and change at Brussels on the way back.

"Fare's Fair" or "Smoke and Mirrors" ... where shall I post?

Usually can find a service at €59 to return to St Pancras from any Dutch station if you book on www.nsinternational.nl

This is on the IC (Inter City) service to Brussels rather than Thalys, but from early April the route of these is being switched to be on the high speed line so would be half an hour quicker than the current schedules (but still an hour or so slower than Thalys).

Through trains from St Pancras to Rotterdam and Amsterdam have been running for a while.   As from April, through trains will start the other way.   Is this ironic news now that we're not part of the EU» (European Union - about)??

Quote
From 11 February, you will be able to book our new direct trains from Amsterdam and Rotterdam to Britain.

Our first direct return train leaves Amsterdam Centraal on 30 April 2020. And we’ll start departing from Rotterdam on 18 May.

The direct inbound journey from Amsterdam–London will start with two services, with the aim of increasing to a third, and then a fourth.

I'd say it's encouraging rather than ironic, and helps to demonstrate that despite what some would have us believe, life will go on post Brexit, pretty much as usual for most people.

From the Business Travel Magazine

Eurostar will reinstate its direct service from London to Rotterdam and Amsterdam on July 9.

The route will restart with one train a day departing London St Pancras at 11:04, arriving in Amsterdam Central at 16:11. Fares are available from £40 one way.

The train also offers onward connections to other Dutch cities, including Utrecht in just over 20 minutes and to Haarlem in 10 minutes from Amsterdam, and to The Hague in under half an hour from Rotterdam.

The return journey continues to be a connecting service through Brussels, where passport controls and security screening are carried out.
