South Western Railways services that majorly interface with GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) trains, as at 1st May 2020

I have selected services that compete or commonly connect with GWR trains or save the same "territory".

Salisbury to London Waterloo
A reduced service will run on this route, with one train per hour between Salisbury and London Waterloo in each direction. The last service from London Waterloo is at 23:25.

Salisbury to Exeter Central
A reduced service will run on this route, with one train every two hours in each direction starting later and finishing earlier than usual. The first and last service on this route will run as far as Exeter St David's. The last service from London Waterloo, which connects with the last service to Exeter St David's is at 21:20. These trains will not call at Feniton and Whimple.  Buses will run every hour between Honiton and Exeter St Davids (Stopping service).

Salisbury to Romsey via Southampton Central
Eight trains per day will operate to and from Romsey via Eastleigh and Southamption Central, with some services extended to / from Salisbury calling at Dean and Mottisfont & Dunbridge. The last service is at 22:07.

London Waterloo to Reading
A half-hourly train service will run between London Waterloo and Reading, in both directions. The last service from London Waterloo to Reading will be at 22:36, with a service from London Waterloo to Staines at 00:10.

London Waterloo to Weymouth
A reduced service will run on this route.
Hourly fast trains will run between London Waterloo and Bournemouth, in both directions. The last service from London Waterloo is at 22:35.
Stopping trains will run between Southampton Central and Bournemouth every hour, in both directions. The last service from London Waterloo is at 21:00.
There will be an hourly shuttle service between Bournemouth and Weymouth, in both directions. The last service from London Waterloo is at 20:00, connecting to the last service from Bournemouth at 22:24.

South Western Railway has announced changes to its timetable increasing services from Southampton to London.

The new changes coming into affect on 7 September and mean that there will be additional off-peak services between London and Southampton as well as increased services on other routes across the South.

On weekends, services will return to a near-normal timetable, but some late notice alterations may apply, and engineering works may affect journeys.

SWR^» (South Western Railway - about) say these changes will increase capacity by approximately 20%, helping customers maintain social distancing when travelling.

As you will know, throughout this pandemic, our priority has been to provide safe and reliable train services for all those key workers who are keeping our country running through this difficult time.

As we enter a third national lockdown this commitment hasn?t changed.

However, as cases of COVID-19 continue to rise, we, like many other businesses are feeling the effects.

More of our colleagues are testing positive for COVID-19 or self-isolating. We also have a number of colleagues that are shielding due to being Clinically Extremely Vulnerable.

Alongside this, with further restrictions in place, we have again seen a reduction in the number of customers travelling with us.

Therefore, in order to continue to provide a reliable service for those who need it, from Monday 11 January 2021 we will be reducing the number of weekday services we will be running.

Our journey planners for next week have been updated, and PDF timetables are available on our website at: www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey/timetables.

However, further changes to timetables may need to be made at short notice, so we strongly recommend customers  check their journey closer to the time of travel at www.southwesternrailway.com/plan-my-journey.

We?ll continue to keep this position under review so that we can again increase services when it?s appropriate to do so, taking account of Government policy and customer demand, and we?ll continue to keep you updated.

I have looked at the pdf timetables for Salisbury to Exeter and there is no mention buses between Honiton and Exeter. The two-hourly train services thankfully stop at all stations. Admittedly, I was expecting a service similar to that introduced in April last year, which was as grahame described - the trains running non-stop between Honiton and Exeter with buses serving the intermediate stations.

Not sure if this is the right thread (I may split later) but here is what the intermediate stations between Salisbury and Basingstoke will have direct to London from next month:

From Grateley at:
* Monday to Friday at 05c22, 05c55, 06:19, 06:57, 07:27, 08c27, 14:59, 15:59, 22c37
* Saturday at 05c27, 05:59, and every hour to 18:59, 19c34, 20c38, 21c37, 22c38
* Sunday at 07c39, 16c57, 17c56, 18c56, 20c33, 21c33, 22c39, 23c38
c - Also calls at Clapham Junction about 7 minutes before arriving at Waterloo
From Whitchurch 16 minutes after Grateley
From Overton 22 minutes after Grateley

Returning from Waterloo to Overton, Whitchurch and Grateley at:
* Monday to Friday at 06c35, 07c10, 07c50, 08:50, 16c20, 16c50, 17:20, 17:50, 18c20, 19c20, 20c20, 21c20, 22c20, 23c40
* Saturday at 06c35, 07c10, 07c50 and hourly to 20c50, 21c20, 22c20, 22c50, 23c39
* Sunday at 17c45, 18c45, 19c45, 20c45, 22c20 and 23c35
c - Also calls at Clapham Junction about 7 minutes after leaving Waterloo

How long can "emergency timetables" last or has the emergency become the norm?  Fears of emergency cuts to inconvenient services in the franchise/contract becoming permanent if it suits the authorities and operators.

London to/from these stations also possible daytime on Mondays to Fridays and Sundays with a change at Basingstoke - good connection in one direction, awful in the other.
