Oh dear ... a report this morning that the Coffee Shop Facebook page has been "cloned", and a suggestion I warn members to be careful before they post there.

Firstly, I've had a look around on Facebook and the only Coffee Shop Forum page I've found is https://www.facebook.com/CoffeeShopCRP/ which is where I expect it to be,  So it looks to me like there is no problem, and that two links coming up for someone was probably a Facebook glitch as their servers updated.  I can't be certain of that, so do be carful of links that you follow.   https://www.facebook.com/CoffeeShopCRP/ should link via "go to website" to http://www.coffeeshopcrp.org.uk which has our logo, and redirects you further on to our main site.   The intermediate link there is designed to provide the reassurance of a page with the same domain name as the Facebook page before sending you to proper forum content.

But secondly - why would anyone want to bother to clone our Facebook page?   The main site - I could understand (we have great content) but the way-finder page??

I will be keeping an eye open and please let me know if you spot anything odd, but more likely than not, a false alarm about a somewhat underused pointer to us which in any case has appropriate security between itself and our main site.   We do not, for example, allow logins via a Facebook account.

P.S. Technically quite possible for someone to have nicked and repurposed our logo!

Both links work fine for me

I like to travel.  It lets me feel I'm getting somewhere.
Do you have something you would like to add to this thread, or would you like to raise a new question at the Coffee Shop? Please [register] (it is free) if you have not done so before, or login (at the top of this page) if you already have an account - we would love to read what you have to say!

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
