I love reading different views and perspectives posted on the Coffee Shop. It's one of the great strengths of this place than we can discuss, and disagree, on things and typically we end up, each of us all the wiser and appreciative of views that are not our own, respecting them and knowing why they are held.  This is not a forum that says "that's not our team's view so you can't post it", though at times we (the moderators) may have a quiet word if you go against the forum agreement in which you have promised not to post anything which is  "false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, copyright, spam, flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes, or solicitations" and we may go beyond a quiet word in rare but merited circumstances.

I'm asking for members' and guests' help here.  The admin team cannot spot everything, read every nuance and be aware of every possible transgression.  Please let us know if you think something is wrong. A personal messages to one of the moderators or admins is a great way to raise issues, as it the Notify button on each page.  For guests (if you're reading deeply, why not register?), an email to forum - at - railcustomer - dot - info will reach 4 of our team to there's a way to reach us.  Please tell us enough to help us identify the post that concerns you, and what your concerns are.

Readers of this thread would - rightly - get the drift that I am writing in slight frustration.  I'm told (in a phone call) about someone reading the forum and feeling that something in one of my own posts wasn't right.  And in all probability, that's correct as I post a lot.  But without knowing which post has caused concern, and what it was within that post, I or any of the rest of the moderator / admin team are powerless to even take a look and things cannot be dealt with.  So - to repeat - Please tell us enough to help us identify the post that concerns you, and what your concerns are - that's no promise that the post will be changed - but it is a promise that we will take a look.

I am especially aware that meeting notes can - taken in the heat of the Zoom session - can contain errors and that's why meetings always start with "minutes of last meeting".  All the notes I publish say "this is what I understood to be said", but I have a feeling one of these sets may have lead to concern.

I looked - in vain - for an old topic to follow up with this message - couldn't find one, which suggests we do very well in not having to post up "please let us know ..." messages.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. Views expressed in posts are not necessarily the views of the operators of the forum.

As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
