Half a dozen of us chatting around topics as we head towards restarts

Bristol

In Bristol, some core bus services normally every 30 minutes but now every 15
BUT other routes out from every 30 minutes to every hour
No service in the evenings

Are we going to find roads filling with private cars and only then (when we're congested again) will people go back to public transport in significant numbers - sort of "second best" for them.
Just 1/3 of the air pollution now - is now the time to bring in a congetion zone?

Railway path - problems of conflict in limited space between some cyclists and walkers
Cyclists feel ownership because Sustrans set it up
Comparison of problems to boater v angler issues on canals

On "can we travel"

What does "need" mean?  Lack of clarity as to what is regarded as a valid journey

Opening up in France - cheap returns re-introduced and "tell people - promote them" from officials

Will people use services?   What will they be happy to go out and do?
- Visiting Family?
- Shops?
- Outside / Park and Countryside?
- Initial trips / shorter times, perhaps direct services?

Being ready for return of more less-than-key travel ("need" may be a need not to go stir crazy / locked in?)

I have scheduled a further meeting for next Tuesday [[ http://www.passenger.chat/23707 for meeting code for members ]] ... as we may start being a little more mobile after 4th July, perhaps a time then to refactor the frequency and to move more to specific topic meetings?

For anyone signed up to next Tuesday's Community Rail Network Webinar (see http://www.firstgreatwestern.info/coffeeshop/index.php?topic=23474 ), our Tuesday club follow on after a personal needs break, and allows a few minutes for late running too.

You can find out more about how this forum works [here] - that will link you to a copy of the forum agreement that you can read before you join, and tell you very much more about how we operate. We are an independent forum, provided and run by customers of Great Western Railway, for customers of Great Western Railway and we welcome railway professionals as members too, in either a personal or official capacity. As well as posting messages onto existing threads, and starting new subjects, members can communicate with each other through personal messages if they wish. And once members have made a certain number of posts, they will automatically be admitted to the "frequent posters club", where subjects not-for-public-domain are discussed; anything from the occasional rant to meetups we may be having ...
