The holiday park is one of many UK▸ accommodation providers that have seen a surge in bookings over the past 48 hours, since Boris Johnson gave the go ahead for summer holidays from 4 July onwards.
"Literally, as soon as he announced yes to campsites, the phone has not stopped ringing," says Julliette Hautot, who runs the business with her husband.
Hotels, bed and breakfasts (B&B), camping grounds and rental owners say they've been inundated with enquiries from holidaymakers hoping to lock in a "staycation" for July or August.

Judging by the very recent experiences of one of our sons, who currently resides in Yorkshire, booking a 'staycation' in Cornwall or Devon over the next few months would be an excellent idea but you won't be able to afford it!

Stay away from the "trendy" areas, particularly West of the Tamar, and he should be OK. Devon is a far nicer destination anyway!  |

As beaches and the like are now re opened, the relevant local authorities should do their bit and re open public toilets.
Reports of people defecating in the gardens of local residents are disgusting, but a foreseeable consequence of opening public spaces but refusing to open toilets.
Holidays within the UK▸ should be encouraged, both to support the UK economy and to reduce the environmental harm from flying overseas.
So local authorities really need to their bit, and I don't believe the claims that opening existing facilities will be hugely expensive.
As seen on TV news, the beach at Weymouth was very crowded in the recent hot weather. I have received ANECDOTAL reports that the public toilets were only opened after the police threatened to arrest council officials.
The police received many complaints about urination and defecation in unsuitable places. Some of those caught by the police so doing said "I am so sorry, have never done this before, but was desperate after finding the toilets locked"

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards,luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU▸ is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

I fear there will be a lot of people taking advantage of the cheap offers in Europe in July and August and disregard the 14 day quarantine on their return. There really is very little the authorities will be able to do about enforcing the quarantine

I think it is more a case of HMG having to, unenforceable. As the risk of a second peak in the winter is high anyway and a second lockdown or local restrictions are highly possible, allowing the population to go on holiday will make the potential second lockdown more palatable. Also to take the anti social pressure off of the UK▸ resorts like have seen at Bournemouth week by exporting the problem |

Yes, a sensible compromise to a damaging and illogical policy. I assume places like Brazil and Mexico will be 'red' in this traffic light system?
It will be interesting to see what colour the US is - would the British government have the balls to classify that as red, too?

I agree, regrettably. The main priority of HMG seems to be getting airlines operating again, with subsidy if needed, and allowing people to fly abroad, with de facto optional/voluntary quarantine on their return. Spain and Italy will no doubt be pleased to welcome holidaymakers. Meanwhile in the UK▸ , people sunbathing at a south coast resort is a "major incident" and public toilets are locked at holiday resorts. |

The toilets are open in Torbay, but bring your debit card; 30p. Paignton has a couple of pubs with big beer gardens fronting the esplanade, not open yet. The beach kiosks are open though.

I suspect the US will be on the red list, as States like Texas, Florida and California the infection rate seems to have got out of control |
