Bookings for Night Riviera sleeper berths reopens

From 24th August berths can be booked  -  boarding via coach C, no wake up calls & given goody bag on boarding (buffet counter service available). Sleeper lounges still closed.

To begin availability will be limited, so we recommend you book as soon as you can.

And, as we get back to normal, things will be a little different:

our lounges at Paddington, Penzance, and Truro are still not open, so please don’t arrive too early.

you’ll need to board the train through the lounge car – Coach C.

we’ll provide you with some complimentary snacks, and a light bite for breakfast when you board.

you won’t be able to sit in the lounge car, but you can still buy snacks, and hot and cold drinks to take back to your cabin.

room service, wake-up calls, and breakfast aren’t currently available. Please check your arrival time with your host.

One of the really negative aspects of catching sleepers is the long evening wait ... all very well saying "don't arrive too early" but at times / in some circumstances there can be hour after hour to wait.   Memories of both Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley - I admit to not using the GWR^▸ (Great Western Railway) services

I think the vast majority of overnight travellers from Cornish stations either drive or are driven to the station. Some might arrive early to make use of the lounges but if they know they're not open will probably turn up only a short time before departure.

When I used the sleeper when working I would catch a down service to PZ from Truro and board the Sleeper there, usually settling in the bunk prior to departure with a book, that inevitably would be retrieved from the floor in the morning.

Nevertheless it's good to see another aspect of normal service return, albet stripped down for now.

Most Cornish travellers just go to the station near to departure time. Bigger hassle is the down sleeper arrivals for folk in east Cornwall. When I come down from Paddington I don't get out a Liskeard at 6.30 I  have a decent sleep and stay on to PZ then have breakfast and get the 8.50 back up!
