Makes the guided busway bit over the Ashton swing bridge and the Portishead line into the most expensive cycle/mobility scooter track in the world. As Tony K might say, 'is this the last chance before the metro finally does go bust ?'

Changes planned for Bristol Airport services as Government set to announce new international travel arrangements

First West of England is making changes to its A2 service (Broadmead - Bristol Airport) for the benefit of customers who need to travel to Bristol Airport. This comes as the Government confirms that holidaymakers will soon be able to travel abroad, with an announcement on the selected air bridges to some European countries expected to follow in the next few days.

From Sunday 5th July, additional early and late journeys will run on A2 service to accommodate customers who need to travel to and from the airport at these times. The A2 route has stops in the City Centre and Bedminster, and will now also serve Bristol Temple Meads Station, to improve access to this service for customers and provide connections to the railway.

Airport Flyer routes A1 (Bristol Bus Station - Bristol Airport) and A3 (Weston-super-Mare - Bristol Airport), operated by First West of England on behalf of Bristol Airport, continues to be suspended until January 2021.

Customers who need to travel to the airport from Weston-super-Mare can take an alternative route to Bristol and pick up the A2 service from bus stop B10 on the Haymarket road in City Centre, or at Bristol Temple Meads.

James Freeman, Managing Director at First West of England, said: “We have been working closely with our partners Bristol Airport to ensure that there are plans in place for when flights resume, following the Government’s announcement that certain air routes will open up to allow selected international travel.

“As people start to think about booking holidays, we want to reassure them that they will be able to travel to and from the airport by bus, along the A2 route from Broadmead to Bristol Airport, via Temple Meads Station. We will work closely with Bristol Airport to ensure sufficient levels of service are available, if the demand for air travel from the airport changes.

“We would like to remind customers to follow the Government’s regulations on wearing face coverings when using public transport, including services to the airport. Like all First West of England buses, capacity on-board the A2 is reduced due to social distancing and we would recommend customers wishing to use this service to plan their journey in advance and allow extra time for travel.”

Tom Hack, Head of Commercial at Bristol Airport said: “Whilst we are seeing a return of flights operating from Bristol Airport the levels are currently not at pre-Covid-19 levels.  We will continue to monitor demand for public transport and work closely with First to increase the provision of our services when the need arises.”

Customers wishing to travel to Bristol Airport can find the latest service information and timetables at the First West of England website: www.firstgroup.com/coronaviruswoe.

Thanks.  So the M2 will still be using the busway.
