From Daily Mail

Quote
Wales BANS public transport users from talking on mobile phones, reading newspapers, eating food or running for the bus in new Covid rules

Rules also order passengers not to run through bus or train stations

Operators were told they could bring in the changes from last Monday

Only 18 new Covid-19 cases were identified in Wales today, taking total to 16,871

I thought it was either a wind up when I first saw it or I had got my dates mixed up and it was April 1st today.

Latest nuttiness from local government.
"Oh officer, I was out running as is permitted for exercise, but became fatigued and decided to get a bus, I was not running FOR the bus"

"Oh officer I was not actually reading the paper, just looking at the pictures, and deciding which bits to read later after alighting"

I expect that the police will look forward to enforcing this, and perhaps "over interpreting"

"carrying sandwiches, with intent to consume them on a bus"
"Walking too quickly, which we consider to be running"
"carrying a newspaper near a public transport facility"
"talking to himself and possibly using a concealed hand free cellphone"
"sending a text message, which we consider to be similar to talking"
"wearing a running vest and trainers at a station, with intent to run"

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

Not to mention, taking a call at Bristol Parkway with intent to continue it in Wales.
