Consultancy Advanced Workplace Associates surveyed 43 offices in the UK, representing nearly 50,000 people, in June and July.

It suggests average attendance was just 29%, with a peak of 39% mid-week.

During the pandemic, offices shifted to home-working but many have continued with a hybrid model since then.

Pre-Covid, UK workers were going into the office an average of 3.8 days a week, the research - which covered sectors including banking, energy, engineering, healthcare, insurance and tech - found.

Leisure services extremely busy this week.  More so than any half term week I can remember.  Perhaps we should praise the unions for not targeting it for more industrial action!

The latest ORR» (Office of Rail and Road formerly Office of Rail Regulation - about) figures show a 95% weekend - the one before last.

Office full time workers have now overtaken hybrid workers with:
43% working full time in the office
39% doing hybrid office/home working
21% working full time at home

Very unscientifically backed up by my own observations. Guess though that the longer your commute (and therefore the more lucrative for the railway) the greater the incentive to resist the pull of the office if you can!

Both the 0813 and 0920 trai s from Pyle Saturday were full and standing even with 3 carriages so nobody could board. The 0943 train to Cardiff arrived nearly as bad but we were lucky to get on. The train i caught home Saturday night was 10 carriages but still was very  crowded

I caught the 1900 tfw Swansea service sunday night 4 carriage loco hauled train. All seats even 1st class taken and lots of people including me standing by the doors etc.

Buses I've ysed this week been very busy too. I think many going back to the office to try and keep work and home seperate plus cut their electricity bills
