Not sure if many people on here knew Roy that has worked in the ticket office at Weston-super-Mare train station for many years.
He sadly passed away suddenly recently after suffering a fatal heart attack.
He was laid to rest last Friday, with his funeral cortege driving past the front of Weston station, where all staff, crew and many friends were there to applaud his last farewell.

A train in the platform gave him one last toot of the whistle and a member of station staff blew her whistle to mark his final journey departing.

A collection was taken among staff and a plaque is now on display on platform 2 at the station in his memory.

On a personal note I spoke and got to know Roy very well over the past years, he would always stop and say "Hello" whenever we saw each other away from the station, and even when working if possible we would have a chat.
He told me many fond stories about his trips with his wife, that were always heartwarming anecdotes

RIP Roy
