A train had to be evacuated at Mortimer Station yesterday (September 17)after an electrical fire broke out in the driver's cabin.

Was watching on OpenTrainTimes, many many delay minutes to services, including two freights.  How's that for unusual, in that it's normally freight causing the delay!
The driver did well to pull into a station, and was hopefully OK, or did the fire start in the station I wonder.

Looks like the rear cab to me, so would have been the Guard / Conductor travelling in it

The fire was in the rear cab. The guard was treated by the medic's for smoke inhalation. Passengers were all ok.

I remember being on the train behind this one, and my train had to reverse back into Reading from Reading West.
