Three Rivers Community Rail Partnership have done a brilliant job refurbishing the long-disused (40 years) station building at Shawford and giving it a new purpose.

It opened a couple of weeks ago and looks fabulous.   SWR» (South Western Railway - about) helped with £200,000 from the Customer & Community Improvement Fund and have just issued a press release on the project.  Here it is https://southwesternrailway-newsroom.prgloo.com/news/now-arriving-at-platform-1

Interesting (although good) that XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) chipped in, given they’re never likely to call there.

Interesting (although good) that XC (Cross Country Trains (franchise)) chipped in, given they’re never likely to call there.

They have a very useful pot of money called the Community Engagement Fund which can be bid to by the Community Rail Partnerships they supported through their franchise (support which has carried over into the current arrangements).  There are 17 in all, I believe.  We in Devon & Cornwall have had money for the Okehampton - Tavistock - Gunnislake Sunday bus and this year there is CrossCountry money going into projects at Pinhoe and Honiton via us.  Very much appreciated.
