The forum may be offline for a while tonight (early hours of 26th January 2021). I will be playing about with character sets. Worst case I have to restore from a backup I'll take as I start the procedure and you will see a service gap of several hours. Best case - pound signs and other special characters will be sorted out and you won't even notice the forum was down for a few minutes.

OK - there is more risk of damage here than I had anticipated, and a possibly I need files that are hard to find and/or do manual conversions in some areas.  So NO CHANGE overnight - learning on a cloned copy of the software during the day to further evaluate risks and practise a (hopefully) solution.  Disappointing in the short term but erring on the side of safety.

Testing done.   Good job I didn't press the very big green button that was so tempting, though labelled with lots of fine print about the damage it could do ... I cloned "The Coffee Shop" into "The Tea Room", pressed the green button in the the tea room and ended up with the problem I was looking to fix replaced by other problems (of the Northern "Changes to services on the line" which means "no trains at all" standard).

I HAVE worked out why it failed ... and having found out why, found out how to fix it, and tested my fix on the clone. And on that basis, I am going to break the Coffee Shop sometime in the middle of tonight, then use my experience to fix what I have just broken before too many of you good folks wake up.  Should be back on line before the honourable member for Minehead and the honourable member for Reading are ready for their first drink at dawn.

Looks good! Thanks for your ongoing tinkering in the engine room (or is that taken as insulting, which is not intended)

My pleasure, and a good synonym. Replaced a component that didn't work properly when alongside other components which were updated last September. Then filtered all the fuel in the tank (and we have a lot of that) to clean all of that which had been damaged from prior to the September update.  Not perfect, but mostly right now and going forward.  Good to know I can still manage to do such things.

For which we should all be grateful.  Some of us have never possessed the ability to work a database marvel in the first place!  (and I have tried)
