I have noticed whilst commuting that on some weekdays, normally once a month, that instead of the usual class 165s operating the services, there is a class 166. Does anybody know exactly when a class 166 is going to work the line?

The short answer for that is no.

The long term plan has Basingstoke diagrams booked to be a class 165. If a class 166 is being used instead, this will be a short term plan, sometimes as short as an on the day change.

Today I travelled on Class 166 201 (for legally permitted reasons). I have noticed that 166 201 has been operating Reading services for some time. Is 166 201 now permanently based at Reading?  Huh
