Different subject - if any of you were aware of the original routing of the train, that's changed too. Pity really; a rare opportunity to use a piece of track that doesn't to my knowledge often see passenger services.

Which bit? Studying my Baker the only bit I can see is through St Phillips Marsh but that would mean reversing at BTM (Bristol Temple Meads (strictly, it should be BRI)).

Yes, my understanding is that it was to reverse at Temple Meads and go through St. Philip's Marsh.

Well, everything's going very smoothly so far, apparently!  I've just been down to Nailsea & Backwell, and the train was exactly on time.

A few people joined at Nailsea (not me, unfortunately), and I had a quick chat with grahame.

I'll try to meet the return and update the topic this evening!

William Huskisson MP (Member of Parliament) was the first person to be killed by a train while crossing the tracks, in 1830.  Many more have died in the same way since then.  Don't take a chance: stop, look, listen.

An excellent day, aided by perfect weather. A very sincere thanks to everyone (especially FGW (First Great Western)) who helped make the day happen.

Well, I did meet the return train - and again, it was on time, to the second, I think!  It was rather strange seeing the screens at Nailsea & Backwell announcing a '20:12 to Westbury' service, though!

John R was obviously happy with the day - and I had another quick chat with grahame, who also seemed very happy!  No doubt he'll be posting here in due course, so I'll leave further details to him.

Hopefully, they all did, Phil - even with the disappointing lack of access to Butlins.

I had a quick chat with John R - he was certainly happy with the way it turned out.

Yes, a great day - thanks to FGW (First Great Western), NR» (Network Rail - home page), WSR, to the individual who gave their time and the many other sponsors who donated too.  Good to see First class fuller than standard too as that will have raised more for the Railway Children.

After getting back on time to Westbury (now THAT is a change from excursions in my youth!) I have been operatingh one of those tyre-on-tarmac devices to get people back home to Devizes and Melksham ... so to tired to post a full report or many picture.   However
