This story in the Guardian https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/feb/26/russian-diplomats-leave-north-korea-on-hand-powered-rail-trolley states that Russian diplomats had to use a trolley for the last 1K to the border. 

Apparently motive power was provided by the embassy‚Äôs third secretary, Vladislav Sorokin.  There is a great picture.

The same photo appears in today's Daily Telegraph. Just wondering about the double track. To accommodate different gauges used by the two countries.?

Yes Standard (1435 mm) and Russian (1520 mm). Too close to use a common third rail so four rails are required. There is a similar arrangement on the Polish-Belarusian border.

If the madcap scheme for a rail tunnel ever came off would the difference to Irish Gauge (1,600 mm) be large enough for only three rails?
