Quote
Exmouth's notorious miniature railway is set to return next month, it has been confirmed.

Exmouth Miniature Railway - a portable miniature railway - is due to return at Queen’s Drive along the seafront from May 1 until October, 31, subject to government restrictions.

The attraction is also set to attend four separate events across the county including the Mid Devon Show on July, 24, the North Devon show on August, 4, the Newton Abbot Country Show on August, 7 and the Uffculme Show on September, 5.

The Exmouth Express was stationed at the fun park on Exmouth seafront in Devon, during the 1980’s until the summer of 2017.

When the fun park closed in 2017, the Exmouth Express was sold, craned out and removed out.

According to their website, in 2019, the current owners Henry and Romy of the Exmouth Express, managed to track the train down and discovered that it was in Lapa Valley Cornwall where she was gathering rust in a shed.

Notorious or famous?

If notorious what was bad about it?

Yes I’m afraid the article is a bit of a travesty of the journalist’s art.

Note breaks v brakes in the full article too!

From Ian Visits - a pretty long list of miniature railways in and around London.    I suspect there are many that I don't know about around the South West ... and lists / examples, anyone?

Kingsbridge Light Railway.  There was one in Kingsbridge up until the late 70s or 80s along the waterside by the car park.  A few years ago, someone thought that it would be a good idea to bring it back.  This time it's on the other side of the head of the ria that lies at the foot of the town at the side of the tree lined walk way.  The money was quickly raised by a share issue locally.  The two station stop names were suggested and voted for locally and includes the rather splendid Kingsbridge Ria End.  Business, pre Covid, was apparently brisk enough to raise the extra funds for an extension and substantial engine shed.
