Not for the first time, I read something on JourneyCheck which has me scratching my head.   So I'm starting a thread to post them - lighter side stuff, through with a hope that they don't become so common to see that they dilute the proper use of the alert system.

13:11 Weymouth to Bristol Temple Meads due 15:31 will be delayed at Bristol Temple Meads.
This is due to a shortage of train crew.

Love it - a train that's going to be delayed once it gets to its final destination!!

Some alterations do not need publishing at all in my view. Including one minute delays.
Another good example is tonight's up sleeper, "diverted between Taunton and Reading" Still expected to make all booked stops and to be on time at London, so why mention it.

A proper intercity train has a minimum of 8 coaches, gangwayed throughout, with first at one end, and a full sized buffet car between first and standard.
It has space for cycles, surfboards, luggage etc.
A 5 car DMU (Diesel Multiple Unit) is not a proper inter-city train. The 5+5 and 9 car DMUs are almost as bad.

The diversion meant it did not make its unadvertised staff call at Swindon.  While any affected people should have picked it up from the internal systems it might just have alerted someone who may have missed the news.

"Staff announcement, staff announcement. The train that is not supposed to be stopping at Swindon won't be stopping at Swindon."
