I've seen quite a few class 387s hired in from C2C and Gatwick Express on Reading-Newbury and London-Didcot Parkway stopper services. The C2C Class 387s seem to be more common on the Reading-Newbury stoppers. Anyone know why GWR are having to hire in 387s?

I believe that services such a those at 07:12 09:18 12:12 14:15 and 17:12 from Paddington to Bristol Parkway use 387s, replacing alternative services which had been planned using
IETs▸ .
