True, but Deuche Bahn  website cuts through a great deal of transnational travel difficulties with trough booking at a discount prices.

The Man in Seat 61 is the classic resource for this* but that doesn't remove the problem, just helps those in the know navigate through it.

SNCB (Belgian Railways) did OK for me getting tickets all the way to Groningen in the Netherlands back in February 2020. They have started sending me marketing emails again, but much as I might be tempted the Covid situation has discouraged me from checking  - try https://www.b-europe.com/EN
