Ten more opportunities or dreams.  Which (up to) FIVE would you select as the ones that should next have regular National Rail services?

Of those on your list, I think that only Fawley and Tavistock have outside chances in the foreseeable future. Fawley because of its appearance as a potential option in the Waterloo FOI (Freedom of Information) material, and Tavistock because a successful Dartmoor Line may provide added impetus.

I would like to say Portishead, but the current mood music doesn't look good to me.

The only English reopening that I would consider a dead cert is the Northumberland Line, which isn't on your list.

I picked four, because I want the 5th to be an 'Other', Caernarfon. If I have to limit myself entirely to the list, then I'd add Henbury as the 5th, though Lee has reminded me of the Northumberland Line, which should also be up there.

You did say should didn't you, not what our predictions are...

Bedford to Cambridge is top of the list for me.

In my defence - As a former political advisor, where would I be if I answered the actual question asked?

Ah!   The question was like rather than should or will.   And I should (!) have made it clear that my examples and the question was within the core area that we cover on the forum - lines that could logically be operated within the Great Western management contract or its successors.   So Bedford to Cambridge, and Bangor to Caernarfon are very much in the running, but not in scope of the question.     I was humming and ha-ing as to whether to include Fawley, but as one option is Fawley - SOU - ESL - SAL - WSB» (Westbury - next trains) - SWI» (Swindon - next trains) I included it.

Agreed that Northumberland is the most likely to actually happen.   And how is Fleetwood coming along?

Witney, within GWR (Great Western Railway) territory. (But Leicester-Burton elsewhere, which would surely be an Okehampton shoo-in were it not for the inconvenient wrongly-facing chord in Leicester.)
